Kids love cookies! In fact, if you give a toddler a cookie, you may as well put one in the other hand. Give your kids even more love of this crunchy or chewy treat by baking cookies with them!
Think about every holiday in the book. Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc... Cookies are perfect for all of these special days.
You can find cookie cutters for almost any occasion. There are endless types of cookie cutters; some are perfect for little hands. I love those big plastic jugs of cookie cutters.
Now there are all types of cookies that kids love, but for obvious reasons sugar cookies are the most fun to make. Why? Because of the decorating part of course! Load up on sprinkles, frosting, tiny candy pieces and anything else your little ones heart's desire and have a blast.
You can find a plethora of sugar cookie recipes almost anywhere you look and many are fabulous! But if your in a crunch for time, just buy some refrigerated dough. (It tastes pretty good too.) Don't eat too much of the raw stuff (I know it's tempting) you don't want to get sick.
Making a mess with decorating is part of the fun! Lay out some newspaper, throw on some aprons and let the kids do the work. Baking cookies with kids can create a lifetime of great memories and some yummy, fun treats that everyone will be sure to enjoy!
Like my great grandmother used to say, "What's a boy without a cookie?" that goes for girls too!
